Situated next to the river Benamargosa, this locality with the same name is surrounded by vegetable gardens, orange trees, lemon trees, and subtropical fruits that cover the narrow valley and the enclosed hills.

History and scenery.
In 1216 the botanist Ibn Beittar published an essay about citrus fruit plantation in Benamargosa. In this locality we can find two oil deposits from this period. With the passage of time the quality of the crops have been improved and nowadays we can find different subtropical fruits, such as, avocado pears, mangoes and chirimoyas.
The church " Iglesia de Parroquial de la Encarnacion " (16th Century) is the most important monument of the locality. This Gothic church has three different solid naves and a tower.
Festivities and traditions.
With San Sebastian in January begin the festivities of Benamargosa, which end with the Feria at the first weekend of August.
Its gastronomy is based on the avocado pear, with which the population makes the avocado pear milkshake known as " Baticate ".
Unlike other Spanish villages, many of the streets are wide, thus allowing easy access and parking. There is a community swimming pool and gardens with children's area and pool. Benamargosa offers living in the real Spain and yet is close to all amenities.
