The village of Vinuela lies just to the south of the Lake Vinuela, - its water expanses delimited by the " Boqutte de Zafarraya ", and the mountains of the Sierra Tejeda.

Although Roman glazed earthenware jars and millstones used to make oil have been discovered in the town, the locality dates back to the end of the 18th century. At the beginning, Vinuela was only a country inn at a crossroads on the route to Granada, which developed into a town. The most important sights in the town are the well kept country inns and the church of " Iglesia de San Jose ". Also of interest are medicinal springs near the Chiliano fountain, and the dam which creates the Vinuela landscape.
Vinuela celebrates its local festivals on the 19th and 21st of July and the Day of the Raisin in September. The different quarters, Los Romanes and Los Gomez ( anejos ), have their local celebrations in August. The ajoblanco ( a cold soup eaten with grapes ), cabbage, orange salad, and " pringa "are some of the local dishes.
